This is what I remember, standing in my house before I could hear the voice in my head telling me to run. "I NEED A HOSE!!," I was thinking. It sounds crazy AND it was CRAZY-THINKING but I'm just a homeowner with no experience with fire like THIS. Within minutes the fire fighters arrived and THEY knew what to do. THEY knew how to kill this monster...and they did. Bless every one of them for risking their lives for sticks of timber and my dog and 50 years of possessions . The Leader told me that they had saved all of our paintings and other artwork, antique carpets, grandpa's chairs, everything but a chandelier which took a hit from high pressure water. WHAT? You did WHAT? I was shaking my head, saying, "I can't believe you did that. He lowered his voice and said so warmly, "It's just a house, but with your 'stuff', it's a home." I will remember his kindness as long as I live.
