Haunted
Haunted
We’re told that when people die, their memory lives on within us. That’s supposed to make us feel better and lessen the sense of loss for us. My father died last month, and I have a new appreciation for this saying as I feel he is still alive in my thoughts. But what if our memories of the dead are of trauma and suffering? What if our only memory is of them dying? The remembrance of that trauma may stick to us and appear more as a haunting: a memory we wish we didn’t have.
Have a safe week, everyone.
