I took the original version of this image in Edmonton, 2 days before the fatal accident in Kamloops yesterday - it included all 9 planes in a diamond formation.

The "Missing Man formation" is an aerial salute performed as part of a flypast of aircraft at a funeral or memorial event, typically in memory of a fallen pilot. In this case, I altered my original image to show the Missing Woman formation in honour of Captain Jenn Casey who tragically lost her life yesterday.

Operation Inspiration was a way for the Snowbirds to pay tribute to frontline workers serving Canadians during this difficult time. It's so sad this positive initiative ended this way. Operation Inspiration was a huge success all across Canada and did inspire many of us. An enormous thank you to Capt Casey, her family, and the rest of the Snowbirds team for their inspirational mission.
